Preserving Your History (Artist Talk + Workshop)

Join us on September 11 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Urban Arts Space, located at 50 West Town Street, Downtown Columbus, for a special event in conjunction with the Illustrating History: Black Columbus exhibition.

Artist Talk (4:00 PM – 4:30 PM):

Begin the event with an insightful artist talk by Aleesha Nash, Columbus native, illustrator, and writer. Aleesha will share her creative process and the inspiration behind the Illustrating History: Black Columbus exhibition, which honors influential African American figures in Columbus. Gain a deeper understanding of the artworks and the stories they tell.

Preserving Your History Workshop (4:30 PM – 6:00 PM):

Following the artist talk, Kristen Newby, Special Collections Manager at the Columbus Metropolitan Library Genealogy Department, will lead the Preserving Your History workshop. This session will offer guidance on tracing and documenting your family history, utilizing resources from the library, and exploring creative ways to preserve your family’s legacy.
