Free Ways to Enjoy Downtown Columbus with Kids This Summer

Looking for fun and inexpensive ways to have fun with your kiddos this summer in Downtown Columbus? We’ve rounded up a few of our favorites that are totally free!

Commons for Kids

Fridays from 10AM-1PM through August 12

Kids can enjoy face painting, giant inflatables, a photo booth, carousel rides and entertainment presented by KEMBA from 11:30AM-12:30PM at Commons for Kids. Each week is a different theme and has new activities or crafts so there is always something new to explore or enjoy!

Scioto Mile Fountain

Daily 11AM-6PM through September 5

Beat the heat with a 15,000 square foot fountain (or splash pad as the kids call it!) at The Scioto Mile! This interactive water spot shoots jets of water 75 into the air and is fun for kids of all ages.

Sundays at the Columbus Museum of Art

Free on Sundays 10AM-5PM

Grab your crew and head to the Columbus Museum of Art to view beautiful artwork and experience interactive exhibits like the Wonder Room. The Columbus Museum of Art is free on Sundays or you can take advantage of the Columbus Metropolitan Library Culture Pass to get a free ticket at any time!

Bike the Scioto Mile

Columbus is a very bike friendly city for all ages! Start your ride at home and head down the Olentangy Bike Trail to the Scioto Trail and enjoy the scenery of Downtown Columbus. Pack picnic supplies and take a snack break at one the many parks along The Scioto Mile

Music on the Mile

Select Fridays & Saturdays 6pm-9pm

Grab your crew, a blanket, and dinner to enjoy Music on the Mile at the Scioto Mile this summer! Various musicians will play on select Fridays and Saturdays this summer. Stay for the whole session or enjoy a few songs on your way through the park.

Attend a Festival in Downtown Columbus
